Welcome to the SHFD homepage! This page is hopefully to document the history of Super Happy Fun Day, and have a place to store pictures.

What is SHFD?

You may be asking yourself, “What is SHFD, and why am I reading this?” I’m wondering the same thing myself.

Super Happy Fun Day, or SHFD for short, started when a bunch of friends graduated high school, and some people moved for college or life or whatnot.  So when all the friends got together at Christmas time to have fun, it ended up being something like this conversation:

Person #1: So what do you want to do tonight?

Person #2: I dunno.  What do you want to do?

Person #1: I dunno.

{You can see where this is leading to.}

That led one of our more intelligent friends to make the claim in the late 90’s:

“We’re going to have a day.  We’ll plan out events! We’ll have prizes and teams!  We’ll have a gift exchange!  We may even eat lunch and/or dinner together! It’s going to be super! It’s going to be happy! And YES, it’s going to be fun!”

The rest is history.  Without fail(*) we’ve met every year around Christmas, and had a day that’s been planned out with events, prizes, and teams.  And it’s been super, happy, and fun.

(*) = Stuff happens every year, and except for a couple of occasions, it’s been going for over 20 years.

This is technically the second version of the website; if you’d like to see how the late 90’s version looks, that is here.
